January Focus - Thankfulness
He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
– Luke 1:49
Week 1: A Thankful Reflection – Let’s reflect on God’s kindness to us in 2022
“Ebenezer” is a Hebrew word that means “stone of help.” In 1 Samuel 7:12, we read,
“Afterward, Samuel took a stone and set it upright between Mizpah and Shen.
He named it Ebenezer, explaining, ‘The Lord has helped us to this point.’"
Let us spend some time “raising a heap of stones” as we praise God for all his kindness in 2022.
Give thanks that God has preserved you day after day this year (Is. 46:3-4)
Remember God’s many interventions that delivered you from sickness and danger and many other threats to your life (2 Cor 1:9-10)
Thank God for all the friends and earthly comforts that have made your journey this past year easier and more pleasant (Psalm 23:2,6, Prov 17:17)
Offer thanks to God for the many successes you experienced this year in multiple areas of your life (Psalm 18:31-33, Job 1:10)
Honor God for the many gifts and expressions of kindness he has blessed you with this year (Deut. 8:10, 11:11-12, Psalm 16:6)
Thank God for the support he has given you while suffering some form of grief or affliction (2 Cor 1:4, Psalm 34:18, Psalm 119:67-68, 71)
Thank God for fulfilling all of his promises to you (Num 23:19, Heb 13:8)
Thank God for keeping before us the blessed hope of his return and our eternal inheritance (James 1:12, 1 Peter 1:4, Heb 11:16)
